The Public Service Act directs
that the Public Service Commission must comprise of three members
one of which must be the Chairperson. His Majesty's Cabinet approved
the appointment of three member Commissioners to be effective as from
31 March, 2006.
THE COMMISSIONERS
Chairperson - Mrs. MISHKA TU'IFUA:
Mrs. Mishka Kupu Tu'ifua is currently the full-time chairperson of the Public Service Commission. She assumed her role as Chairperson on 02 June, 2008 after holding the position of General Manager of the Westpac Bank of Tonga since 2003. Whilst with the Westpac Bank of Tonga she was the first woman and a Tongan at that to hold the GM position. Mrs. Tu'ifua has 19 years of professional experience in the Private Sector. Her extensive background is in organisation and change management, business operations and customer relationship management. Mrs. Tu'ifua joined the Westpac Banking Corporation in 1988. She took up a senior management position with overall responsibility for large business operations in Australia before moving to head the Westpac branch here in Tonga. Commissioner - Ms. TAI'ATU 'ATA'ATA
Ms. Tai'atu 'Ata'ata is currently employed in a Managerial capacity by the Westpac Bank of Tonga at Nuku'alofa. She was the former Manager for Sales and Marketing at the national communication company, Tonga Communications Corporation (TCC). Ms. 'Ata'ata has 19 years of professional experience in the private and public sector. Prior to this position, she worked for the Government of Tonga for 9 years from 1988-1997 at the Central Planning Department as Economist and subsequently as Senior Economist before joining TCC. Ms. 'Ata'ata is actively involved in community organisation such as the Rotary Club of Nuku'alofa and the Tonga Chamber of Commerce.
